What This Did For Me

Here are the screen shots of the original music video for Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time". These are followed camera shots by our own interpretation of the video.
Time Segment: 00:00 - 00:21

This helped me to understand the incredibly high level of detail that goes in to creating a music video. Every action, every camera movement and every edit needs to be carefully considered so that the appropriate message is delivered to the audience so that it caters to the target.

Music Video Analysis

Introduction to Genre - Pop Music Typology

Pop music videos are widely consumed and have a mass appeal and are not aimed at a niche market or a sub-culture. The artists are usually singing or dancing and rarely ever feature performing with instruments. The video itself is narratively led 99% of the time and usually focuses on the youth of the given time period. The content of the videos are a reflection of the trends that are already present, they do not set their own trends. The themes that are present in the video are usually universal and simple.
